Going with the season, this is a luscious green spring painting, inspired by our many walks in the park almost bordering our house. Besides a beautiful botanical garden this park also has some natural area's where native plants reign. In spring it's always full of wild phlox in all tints from white through pale pink to purple and it's at this time this painting was conceived.
At that time I was just venturing out into a more abstract and loser way of painting. In this landscape you see lots of translucent layers in a very loose brush stroke. It has always been one of my favorites, but well, you don't raise kids to hang around forever either....it's time this one is on it's way to a new home.

The price for this painting was $1800 but it can be yours now for $700!

It will be shipped unframed but has all the hardware for hanging. This one is gallery wrapped, meaning no staples are visible on the sides, however, as I always paint on a colored ground the sides of the painting are 'mars orange' a color that also shows through in the bottom of the work.

Field Crossings, winter

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 254px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_J7dp3W6EiMg/SZbtTvLDuQI/AAAAAAAAAV8/9p8YcETrplA/s320/IMG_5994.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5302686534611482882" />
The winter one of this series has only a small vignette. In this series I have used that shape in three very different ways. This one is inspired by a field in late summer when the dry grasses turn to the palest yellows, the leafs of some plants are getting rust red and brown and the vines of the wild black berries all of a sudden show an iridescent blue/purple. The rust colored vignette is painted losely here, echoing the overgrown wildness of the lushly grown plants, in it we still see marks of all the vines but on top just the one blue/purple stripe represents the vines.

Size:          16x20"
Medium:   oil on linen
Year:          2003
Price:         $500 (from $950)
Unframed

I do accept credit card payments and will ship at the lowest available price.

Urban Sunset

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 319px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_J7dp3W6EiMg/SY9U6giqRDI/AAAAAAAAAVU/DBAUzs5Cjzk/s320/IMG_5988.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5300548650582819890" />

Another small square painting, this one abstract, titled: 'Urban Sunset'
As you can see in my new work on my website, verticals, circles or ovals have had a long time attraction on me. And maybe it's because I'm Dutch and grew up with the familiar sight of windmills but this one caught my attention. Like the Dutch, the Portuguese and Spanish have a lot of windmills too, but they're quite different from the mostly very sturdy buildings the Dutch build as windmills.
The Spanish and Portuguese windmills are much smaller, plain cylindrical and usually white, like this old one that was obviously not being used anymore.
What I liked was the graphic sign made by the one leftover 'wing' (?) that shows up from behind the building. The sky was one of those intense blue late summer/early fall skies when the temperatures are still very warm but the color of the sky tells you that summer is almost gone. The earth over there is often a warm pink/red color, which is reflected in the white of the building.

This is a square painting, 50x50cm or 20x20", oil on Belgian linen, framed in a wooden floater frame.

Price: $250

Winter Day 1

Winter Day 1 is an abstracted landscape, inspired by a walk in a nearby park in the midst of winter. The colorfields are reflecting the colors found in trees and prairie, surrounded by the frosty blue of a cold winter sky.

This painting does not photograph very well; due to a lack of clear lines the camera cannot focus very well. The slightly lighter spot in the upper right is a reflection of light as the painting has a rather glossy finish.
